Welcome

Room3 is a progressive video production studio in Melbourne, Australia. We specialise in creative and targeted communication geared to 15 – 35 year olds.

Our culture is down to earth and sociable. We are progressive in thought and design. Our client list is a fair reflection of this too. It varies from not for profits – social justice and community development groups through to new media commercial groups. We also have a presence in alternative and fringe scenes and have produced multimedia resources with international distribution such as ‘The Trouble With Paris’ DVD. We have shot in many global locations such as Kazakhstan, Uganda, China, and Cambodia to name a few.

Our work is fresh and juicy and our experienced team is ready to take your call.

Following the success of its first youth DVD, Micah Challenge Australia approached Room3 to come up with something that would take its campaign even further. The end result was “What can one person do?” – a DVD/DVD Rom combining informative and moving video with downloadable resources that enabled individuals and groups to act on what they saw.

When bands come to us to put up ideas for they’re film clips they often think our thoughts are ridiculously big and naively optimistic. Often they patronize us with fake little laughs, a hunch of the shoulders, an awkward look sideways. Usually they are really hoping someone will pour a vat of boiling oil on them – just to deflect our enthusiastic stare. To our surprise the guys from House Vs. Hurricane were calm, collected, and a bit sweet. (unlike they’re music). “To the gaol!!” we said, “f**k*n yeah!!” they said, and off we went. The rest is history. The clip is set for a Japanese and European release. Nasty.

Subversive is a big one… uh huh… big. It is the brain child of Ken Morgan. Late in 2008 we produced the pilot of what stands to be a 15 part series unpacking a shirt loads of issues – issues like sexuality, boredom, fame, religion, and media to name a few. The other half of the project was to construct an online community driven web site where users can link YouTube vids, upload things, down load other things, post comments, and discuss in forums. It’s all secure and creep free. Wow!

The Red Shore is a metal band. They are awesome. They found time between touring Europe and celebrating Christmas (in their own way) to work with us to concept and produce this awesome clip. Room3 did all the creative, production and CGI. So as you could imagine, things got a little loud, angry and grrr around the Room3 studio for the week or so in post production. Not a bad thing. It’s nice to see metal alive and well – that’s what we say.

The world's poorest people are being hit the hardest by climate change, even though they're contributing the least to the problem. Tear Australia engaged us to produce a 3 part documentary on the issue. It portrays how Tear’s partner in Bangladesh is helping communities respond to global warming, preparing for more frequent natural disasters and finding ways for 'climate refugees' to earn a livelihood. It also covers how Australians can stand alongside them, by reducing their climate footprint and advocating for justice. It is available for purchase at tear.org.au and at climateofchange.tv

The Trouble with Paris is Room3’s first self-produced DVD resource. We’re quite proud of ourselves. With the smallest of budgets we set out to tell Mark Sayers’ story of how Paris Hilton helped him become a better Christian. True. It’s recently been picked up by a U.S publisher and is due for global release. Some say it’s a mind blowing 45 minutes – new school social commentary meets God – others just say it’s really fun.

We learnt a lot on the Forgiven Rival shoot. We learnt that 3 phase generators weigh over a ton and are difficult to tow up hills. We learnt big lighting rigs come in big road cases. We also learnt that industrial fans are somewhat windy and make quite a mess. However the most important thing we learnt is when you put these together and add one of Melbourne's finest rock acts you get a killer clip that has been aired on rage, MTV, Channel V and by thousands online. “Hey Ryan… is that a camera on your jib or are you just happy to see us?”

Many people remember 2003 as the year John Howard decided to send Aussie troops to Iraq to participate in a war not sanctioned by the UN. We, however, like to remember 2003 as the year Global Interaction took a calculated risk in backing Room3 into the wide world of entertaining mission DVDs. Fortune favors the brave. The risk paid off with gold stars all round for Global Interaction.

Using real life testimonies of real live people we set about producing a humble little promotional clip that tells the Perspectives story creatively. It’s a course for personal inspiration and goal setting. It’s so cute. Big people and little people.
